You've finally finished your first draft.  You know there is still work to do, but you don't want to start polishing scenes and refining at a line level before you feel confident that the larger story holds together.

In this developmental edit, I will evaluate:

• The structure (is the story unfolding in the best way for your vision)

• Character arcs (are your characters, especially your protagonist, growing and changing?)

• Are the pacing and tension keeping the reader engaged, or is the story sagging?

• Are there plot holes or loose ends?

• Causality ( are the events of the story linked in a cause-and-effect way?)

• Are the stakes clear?

• Does the story end in a satisfying way?

• Have you developed the world of the novel?

Feedback will be in the form of inline comments and an editorial letter that details the strengths and challenges in your draft. It will also include suggestions for addressing the challenges in your revisions.

The edit takes 4-6 weeks, depending on my workload.

does not focus on spelling or grammar.
